A Jane Austen Evensong
MS Jane Austen Society presents Evening Prayer with Choir from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer that Austen would have known for service at St. Nicholas, Chawton.



October 7

St. Francis Evensong
Verae Voces, directed by Sarah Little, presents Good Shepherd evensong, with Blessing of the Animals and our own Pet Parade following on the grounds. Voluntary donations for CARA at the door.


November 4

All Soul’s Evensong
Our choirs join to celebrate the Solemnity of All Soul’s with all American music, including the Jackson premiere of Gwenyeth Walker’s “Let the Life I’ve Lived Speak for Me” and Morten Lauridsen’s “Sure on this Shining Night.” Our necrology is read in memory of “all those whom we love but see no longer.”

King George VI at his prayers
Our 11:15 choir, joined by the Millsaps Chamber Singers, directed by Jonathan Trotter, presents the celebrated Collegium Regale service of Herbert Howells (1892-1983). In recital following, Michael Beattie, organist, presents music of Cesar Granck and J.S. Bach.

Tudor and Stuart Glory
Our 11:05 choir offers an evening liturgy with music from Tallis, Byrd, Gibbons, and Tomkins. In recital following, Marta Szlubowska, violin, presents the Szmanowski Myths and the Paderewski Violin Sonata.
